Due to its adjacency to a public high school, the Prince George’s County Memorial Library System’s Bowie Branch library serves a large adolescent population. This youthful, tech savvy clientele increased the demand for the modernization of a branch already in need of a considerable facelift.
Major renovations to the 2-story structure focused on enhancing patron access to technology throughout. Now the revitalized branch boasts a modernized collection space with a distinct area for teens; complete with a curved WiFi bar and several individual rooms for quiet study. The “Discovery Main Street” themed children’s collection features a replica fire engine, pizza parlor, and antique road signs, allowing the youth to explore literature in their own rendition of historic Bowie.
