Anne Arundel County acquired a former Nike missile base from the Federal government in 1976 and developed a training facility for the Police Department by utilizing the existing buildings. The old missile base structures became obsolete and the Police Department embarked on a major construction project that would provide 21st century instructional and training facilities.
Working closely with the Police leadership, Gant Brunnett, Architects developed the designs for a Classroom Building of 17,000 square feet, a Fitness Building of 13,000 square feet, and a 400-meter running track. The new facilities provide the Police Department with extensive classroom space, command offices, multi-purpose rooms, a canteen, fitness training equipment room, digital simulation spaces, and locker rooms.
Upon completion the project achieved LEED Silver Certification.
